You are not alone. There are an estimated 34,000 carers living in the county of Northumberland alone.

Carers can have a very challenging, often isolating lifestyle, with little recognition or financial reward.

You may look after a husband, wife, partner, child, parent, another relative or a close neighbour or friend. You probably don’t stop to think about your own needs as you are so busy with everything you do on a daily basis. Even if you may be managing well at the moment you never know when you might need extra support. That’s why Carers Northumberland exists, to support you.

Carers Northumberland is a charity dedicated to:

• Putting carers first
• Supporting carers
• Informing carers
• Providing a voice for carers

This website will give you a lot of useful information. You’ll find information to help you in your caring role, discover how you can take a break from your caring role, realise what support is available locally and learn how to make sure your views, concerns and ideas are listened to
